About this Event
Urban farms and gardens can have some unique water handling issues, from fast-draining sandy soils to waterlogged low-lying areas. Some soils are oddly slow to absorb water, others drink it up. Any of these can lead to water-stressed plants, one of the most common problems in urban agriculture. At this free workshop, we'll do real-time demonstrations on the farm at Snug Harbor, including a field percolation test and rainfall simulation, and we'll talk about how to manage your soil to improve its ability to handle water.
