About this Event
Herefordshire Meadows will be teaching us how to carry out soil monitoring tests, including VESS, earthworms, rhizosheaths and slake tests (more information here on what they are Soil Monitoring Guide – Soilmentor)
Following this training session we will then develop a plan for long term soil monitoring at Bartonsham and it is hoped that those who attend this session will be willing to help with this. This will involve sampling the same field/compartment every 6 months (approx 2 hours per sample).
As part of this session we'll spend roughly 1.5 hours out on the meadow, so please dress appropriately. We'll then retreat to the Scout Hut to warm up with a bowl of soup and to complete the slake test and discuss recording methods.
If you are able to please bring a spade, notebook, phone to record w3w location / camera and a small lidded tub (margarine, yoghurt, hummous etc) to collect soil for slake test.
