Ward Wilson vs. Peter Huessy
Resolution:
It is imperative to eliminate nuclear weapons.
For the affirmative:
Ward Wilson has worked on nuclear weapons policy issues for thirty-five years. He has been a senior fellow at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies, BASIC (the British American Security Information Council), and the Federation of American Scientists. He is currently the executive director of RealistRevolt, a Chicao-based advocacay organization whose mission is the elimination of nuclear weapons. His 2013 book, Five Myths About Nuclear Weapons, included a a groundbreaking argument that bombing Hiroshima did not force Japan to surrender, that it was the Russian entry into the war that tipped the balance. His forthcoming book is titled: Eliminating Nuclear Weapons: A Field Manual.
For the negative:
Peter Huessy is President of GeoStrategic Analysis, a senior fellow at Hudson Institute, and a visiting senior fellow at the Atlantic Council. He focuses on nuclear deterrence and modernization, arms control, space and defense policy. Mr. Huessy has spent the past four decades laying out the requirements for nuclear deterrence and modernization, arms control, and defense policy, as well as the comparison efforts on missile defense, space, non-and counterproliferation, particularly using public diplomacy and education seminars to further U.S. policy. His work has also focused on threats from Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran.
