About this Event

A free event sponsored by the American University (AU) School of Education (SOE) and part of AU Family Weekend, join SOE Assistant Professor Dr. Kenjus Watson and Professor Dr. Jennifer Steele as they discuss two essential topics for students: stress and healing and the benefits of college in the 21st century.

  • The Relationship Between Sesame Street, Stress, and Wellness
Dr. Kenjus Watson will explore how stress-induced biological dysregulation affects students and educators and how healing-centered educational practices can help counter these impacts, fostering resilience and well-being.

  • Why College Still Matters, and How It Can Matter More
Dr. Jennifer Steele will talk about why college still matters in the 21st century and how it needs to pivot to create a more just world.
The sessions will be followed by a reception and open house for SOE students, their families, and SOE faculty and staff. We look forward to seeing you there!
