Socrates in the City Presents: Eric Metaxas in Conversation with Senator Josh Hawley
About this Event

Join us for an unforgettable evening with U.S. Senator Josh Hawley in Palm Beach, Florida, on February 6th, as he sits down with Socrates in the City host Eric Metaxas to explore one of the most pressing cultural questions of our time: “What is Manhood?”

In this thought-provoking conversation, Senator Hawley will draw from his bestselling book, Manhood: The Masculine Virtues America Needs, and share his insights on the crisis of masculinity in modern America. With his unique blend of intellectual rigor and cultural critique, Hawley will examine how traditional virtues like courage, honor, and responsibility are essential not only for individual fulfillment but for the health of society as a whole.

This is a rare opportunity to hear from one of the leading voices in the national debate on family, faith, and the future of masculinity. Whether you’re grappling with these issues personally or simply seeking a deeper understanding of their cultural significance, this event promises to be both inspiring and enlightening.

Josh Hawley, born in 1980 in Springdale, Arkansas, is a U.S. Senator from Missouri known for his populist conservative views and advocacy for traditional family values. Before entering politics, he graduated from Stanford University and the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, eventually becoming Missouri’s Attorney General in 2017. As Attorney General, Hawley gained national attention for his aggressive stance against tech companies like Google, positioning himself as a champion of state rights and consumer protection. In 2018, he successfully ran for the U.S. Senate, defeating incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill and cementing his place as a rising star in the Republican Party.

Hawley’s political philosophy is deeply influenced by his personal beliefs, particularly those explored in his 2021 book Manhood: The Masculine Virtues America Needs. In the book, he critiques modern American culture for undermining traditional masculinity, arguing that men today are facing a crisis of purpose and identity. Drawing from his Christian faith and a vision of American virtue, Hawley calls for a return to virtues like courage, responsibility, and honor, which he sees as crucial for both personal fulfillment and societal strength. Through his political career and his writing, Hawley has emerged as a leading voice in the conservative movement, advocating for a new vision of masculinity and the importance of strong families in rebuilding American society.
