Curious about dyeing your own yarn? Sock blank dyeing is a playful, approachable way to explore color—and it’s just one of many techniques used in hand-dyed yarn. This workshop is designed for knitters, crocheters, and fiber-curious creatives alike, whether you dream of socks, shawls, garments, blankets, or future projects still waiting to be imagined.
Join Carolyn of Swan City Yarns for a relaxed, hands-on dyeing experience where you’ll learn how color behaves on a double-knit sock blank (a pre-knit length of yarn that’s dyed first, then unraveled and used like regular yarn). No prior dyeing experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to play.
You’ll experiment with color placement, learn how dyes move and blend on yarn, and gain a better understanding of how hand-dyed yarn comes to life from skein to finished project. Your sock blank will be heat-set and ready to take home the same day.
✨ Bonus: This workshop runs alongside a Swan City Yarns Trunk Show, open all day and free to browse. Stop by to shop Carolyn’s hand-dyed yarns, ask questions about dye techniques, and see how different color styles translate to finished pieces—even if you’re not taking the class.
