Creative Vibes Music Therapy is bringing its interactive and play-filled music class to Habitot Children’s Museum, where toddlers and preschoolers can develop skills while having fun. Musical activities and interactions encourage:
*Listening & following directions (through dancing)
*Taking turns (using musical instruments)
*Active engagement
*Social interactions
*Free choice*Creativity
*Collaboration
*Awareness of others
Tickts are $20/child, $3/EBT-eligible child. Adults are free, babies under 12 months free with 1 paid child admission. Ticket includes museum admission.
Class is at 10:30-11:00am. Museum opens at 10. Research has continuously shown that play is essential in learning for young children, encouraging development of cognitive, emotional, social, language, and physical skills. Music therapy can support this “learning through play” by increasing intrinsic motivation, encouraging imagination, active engagement, allowing free choice, and most importantly, having fun!
Some words from Music Teacher Jocie: I am delighted to be providing this music therapy service for Habitot. I grew up in the Bay Area performing onstage, got my Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from Loyola University New Orleans with a concentration in Classical Voice, and now I'm back in the bay as a board-certified music therapist seeking out opportunities to bring the community together through music. My hope for this group is to create a safe space for you and your family to share meaningful experiences where your children can develop social skills, and enjoy cognitive, mental, and physical activities through music. I also strive to make these groups collaborative, wherein you can share what you'd like to receive from the group. Let's form a trusting, positive relationship with music together. I look forward to meeting everyone!!
