Topic - Pricing Your Products and ServicesOne of the most frequent issues I deal with when working with female business owners is their pricing strategy. Many of them worry they are charging too much for their products or services and are fearful of how they can justify what they charge. What is interesting is that I have rarely had to deal with this as an issue with male business owners. This suggests to me that what we are dealing with is as much a money mindset issue as it is a pricing issue.
For me, knowing my worth means three things:
Being confident in the rates I charge because I have used a formula to work out the price rather than copying my competitors
Being clear about my business model so I know I am using a sound financial formula
Being unapologetic about collecting those rates.
It is time for female entrepreneurs to stop battling the financial stereotypes that goes back decades. It is generally true that salaried women still earn less on average than men in many sectors. As business owners, especially those who provide professional services, we are in a unique position to set our own rates. We should do that from a position of confidence in ourselves and our businesses.
Perfect pricing is not an art or a science, but a combination of business awareness and self-confidence. Charge too much and you can scare off your clients but charge too little and you devalue your services.
Being confident in your pricing means understanding four key factors and how they work together to set your price.
