Led by Malcolm Hodgson, Cleveland Way National Trail Officer, this lovely walk takes us from the centre of bustling Whitby to more calming landscapes, as we head along the River Esk and turn onto the Cinder Track, crossing the impressive Larpool Viaduct. After a steady climb along the disused railway line we turn for the coast and join the Cleveland Way/King Charles III National Trails for a spectacular return to Whitby along the cliff path. There are brilliant sea views and glimpses of shipwrecks as we pass Whitby Lighthouse and Abbey.
There are no major climbs on this walk (we descend the 199 steps at Whitby!) and overall height gain is 150 metres. Dogs are welcome but must stay on a short lead at all times. Children must be accompanied by an adult and be physically able to do the walk.
What makes it special?
.Cross the impressive Larpool Viaduct
.Stunning coastal views along the Cleveland Way/King Charles III England Coast Path
.Free cuppa and cake at the finish
