About this Event

Social Value is for everyone, and so is our Members Exchange ‘MemEx’ Conference!

Come and join us to envision ‘The Future of Social Value’.

Social Value UK, along with our members and partners, will dive-into a range of social value topics and themes to help us all to take the next steps towards a shared future of social value driving decisions for more equality, improved wellbeing, and greater environmental care. Social Value is ever more critical as we collectively face growing interconnected social, environmental, cultural, and economic challenges and need new and innovative thinking to tackle these. We are 10 years on from the implementation of the Social Value Act, much has been achieved in understanding standards and practice development but a much greater shift is needed to meet the needs of the next 10 years. So let’s come together with content developed by and with the SVUK membership to lead the way in the Future of Social Value.

What to expect:

The conference is running both online, and in person to allow people to join as is best for them. We will be hosting it live in-person on Thursday 15th September, with the content repeated in the following week for online attendees (book separately here). Your in-person or online ticket will also provide access to online wrap around sessions.

At MemEx we take full advantage of the skills and knowledge from the membership to enable peer-learning, whilst also creating a wealth of resources, and a warm welcome for all both member and non-members.

Content:

This Members Exchange will look to the Future of Social Value. The SVUK annual MemEx is the opportunity for our members to lead the way in presenting current social value practice and highlighting the most important directions for the movement to progress. Our speakers and session details will be announced in the coming weeks but attendees can expect content that will cover the following key themes :

  • Putting the Principles of Social Value into Practice
  • Social Value and the Climate Crisis, recognising the connection between people and planet
  • Tech for Good, digitisation and its implications for Social Value Practice
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the heart of Social Value Practice
  • Addressing inequality through engaging stakeholders

Sessions will include topics such as:

  • Change our education, change our society - Embedding Social Value into Education
  • Realising the value of the VCSE community
  • Achieving social value through commissioning, procurement and contracting

Attendees can expect:

  • Welcome and Closing speech from our CEOs Crispen Sachikonye and Isabelle Parasram OBE
  • Keynote talks
  • Attend two sessions from a choice of four, so you can get what you need from the day, designed to meet needs across sectors and levels of social value understanding.
  • Panel discussion and Q&As
  • Multiple opportunities to network, suited to both introverted and extroverted tendencies!
  • Exhibition stands (in-person only)
  • Tricky Questions Corner - a chance to quiz our social value nerds (in-person only)
  • Have your say and inform our advocacy work

Online attendees will be able to view the presentations and speeches, and live online versions of the workshop sessions.

There will also be SVUK led ‘fringe’ events covering network updates on some of the key themes, introductions to the network, and to the Social Value Principles.

Making it accessible and 'Pay it forward' ticket:

It is important that we keep costs and ticket prices as low as possible so that our events are accessible to all our members. This is especially important for our civil society organisations, and small organisations from all sectors such as SMEs, who represent not just their organisations but communities too and play an integral part in the creation and measuring of social value.

Please consider purchasing a 'pay it forward' ticket at the checkout so that we can issue free tickets to charitable, CIC or similar status organisations.

If you are an organisation with charitable, CIC or similar status, then please email [email protected] to enquire about donated tickets.

In the event that a Pay it Forward ticket is not utilised, we will absorb the costs into our work with our civil society members.

Important ticket information:

There are big tickets savings for members, so why not join us? Check out our benefits here and join via this Sign-up form.

If you are not sure if you are a Member at the checkout, please contact [email protected] to check before purchasing.

If you cannot pay online, please email [email protected] for alternative options.

Cancellation Policy:

If you need to cancel, you will receive a full refund if cancelled one month before, a 50% refund if cancelled 2 weeks before, a 25% refund if cancelled a week before. We cannot issue any refunds within one week of the event.

If we need to cancel, you can either exchange your ticket for online and receive a refund for the difference, or we will give you online access and roll your in-person ticket over to postponed event
