About this Event
West of England Women's Commission Social Value Summit:
Transforming regional procurement in delivering social value for women and children in poverty.
We recognise the challenges faced by professionals in social value and procurement in ensuring their work delivers meaningful benefit to the groups that need support.
This summit invited key leaders and stakeholders from across regional procurement and social value to come together. It aims to help you build connections and create actions and commitments to build frameworks and partnerships to deliver lasting, impactful social value strengthening the focus on fair work and opportunities for low-paid or unemployed women.
We will have a particular focus on identifying actionable steps for all participants to create lasting collaboration among key institutions, public bodies and organisations.
Our summit speakers:
- Sue Cohen and Diane Bunyan - Co Chairs, West of England Women's Commission, Economy Task Group
- Dr Ruth Badru, Associate Professor in Economics, University of Bristol
- Sarah Lambshead, Associate Director for Social Value
- Marie Spour, Head of Procurement and Contract Management, West of England Mayoral Combined Authority
In addition to our opening speakers, regional partners from key organisations across the West of England will share cross-sectoral knowledge at round tables between those commissioning and procuring services, those who are potential bidders and community representatives who further social value.
We plan for each table to engage with specified targets in WECA’s Regional Growth Strategy and Tackling Child Poverty Strategy as the starting point for ensuring that the needs of low-income women and women and children in poverty are addressed in procurement decisions, to help you and your colleagues to deliver your social value commitments.
We welcome leaders and stakeholders from key organisations at the event including:
- Procurement and/or contracts management leaders and stakeholders
- Community, Social Value, ESG, and Diversity and Inclusion leaders and stakeholders
- Academics with expertise in social value, women's economics, or procurement
