About this Event
Join us for an insightful evening as experts in social science research join to raise awareness and discuss the impact of social media and technology in childhood and beyond.
- Professor Julia Gillen (Lancaster University) will share findings from ESRC project, Toddlers, Tech and Talk, which explores how very young children learn language and literacy at home in a digital age.
- Professor Emma Boyland (University of Liverpool) will discuss food and beverage marketing to children and childhood obesity in the digital age.
- Dr Katie Thompson (Manchester Metropolitan University) will share insights on the use of social media and selfie-editing technologies and their impact on self-perception and body image among young people.
Presentations will be followed by an audience Q+A. By attending this session, you will develop a deeper understanding of the impact of technology and social media on children and young people. This is a hybrid session. When booking, please indicate whether you plan to attend in-person or on Zoom. The venue’s capacity is limited, so if you book to attend in-person but you can’t make it, please cancel your booking in advance so someone else can join.
