Valentine’s Day Action for Hens 🐓❤️
Demand Sobeys Publish a Time-Bound Cage-Free Plan 📢🕊️
Join Mercy For Animals volunteers this Valentine’s Day 💘 to stand up for love, compassion, and the millions of hens still trapped in cages in Sobeys’ egg supply chain 🐔💔. We are urging Sobeys to publish a clear, time-bound plan 🗓️ to fulfill their long-overdue promise to eliminate extreme confinement for hens — a promise first made in 2016.
In 2016, Sobeys and their parent company, Empire 🏢, publicly pledged to stop sourcing eggs from caged hens by 2025 🐓✅. Years later, despite ruling some of Canada’s largest and most profitable grocery brands 💰 Empire removed that deadline in 2021 ⏳❌, leaving hens in prolonged suffering 🐔💔.
Sobeys promised an updated plan 📝 — but has still not shared how or when they will complete this transition 🚫🐓.
This Valentine’s Day 💖, we’re calling on Mr. Pierre Saint-Laurent, CEO of Sobeys 👔, to use his position of power 💪 to put love into action — to publish a time-bound plan 🗓️ and finally let the hens out of cages 🐓🌱. Love isn’t just a feeling — it’s compassion in action 💚✨.
