About this Event
Soar High! is a 2 day school holiday program designed for young people aged 8-12 years who are at risk of developing a mental health concern. This program aims to explore themes such as personal goal setting and coping strategies.
This program aims to:
1. encourage young people to set goals and coping strategies, create and make, and get out and getting active.
2. Providing opportunities for young people to make new friends
3. Opportunities to seek support for mental health challenges and/ or mental health young carer roles
4. Provide a take home ‘tool’ for use as a coping strategy activity.
This program also includes an exciting excursion to Lock and Load Laser Tag!
When
Thursday, 11 July| 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Friday, 12 July | 10:00am - 3:00 PM (Excursion)
Attendees are required to attend both days.
Who
Youth aged 8 to 12 who has a family member or a friend living with a mental health challenge or is at risk of developing a mental health challenge themselves.

Day 1 - Lotteries House
Day 2 - Excursion to Lock and Load Laser Tag
Bring
Please bring hat, sun cream, water bottle and enclosed shoes.

A member of our team will contact you to complete the HelpingMinds registration and eligibility process. Please add Parent/Guardian details in the CONTACT INFORMATION section and young person’s details in the TICKET – EXPRESSION OF INTEREST section. If booking multiple tickets, please fill in one young person’s details per ticket.

School Holiday Program important info
- If your child has not received support from HelpingMinds before (or within the last 6 months) a phone interview will need to take place with the parent/guardian
- A consent form will need to be signed by both parents.
- If children require Medic*tion throughout the day, they will be required to self-administer this.
- External support workers are not allowed at the workshop.
- Children require adequate independent coping skills to be able to deal with group situations.
- All our workshops have a maximum capacity to ensure our counsellors can provide adequate professional support for all children attending.
- To give everyone in the community a fair chance, each child can enrol in a maximum of two workshops.
This program is funded by the Mental Health Commission to provide support to young people caring for someone or with a loved one with a mental health concern. This program is provided at no cost to participants.
