Tuition: $24 Materials: $12
*Sliding Scale Tuition Available*
Soap is created from lye and fats. In this soap making class, you'll combine lye, vegetable oils, essential oils, and botanicals to make your own soap that you can take home and use. No prior experience is necessary, and this is a very all ages friendly experience! Students ages 8+ are welcome, and if under age 11 please bring an adult with you for supervision. Please bring an apron with you to protect your clothes, and be sure to wear clothing that you're ok with getting dirty.
About the Instructor: Brenda Olson has extensive teaching experience teaching social studies, language arts, math, and science to middle school students and has worked as both a paraprofessional and tutor. She teaches soap making classes to people of all ages at Camp Du Nord. In her free time Brenda likes to adventure with her adult children and grandchildren. Hiking, Nordic skiing, canoeing, reading, biking and talking with friends are some of her favorite pastimes. She especially enjoys the solitude of the BWCAW. Brenda looks forward to debuting her first class at the Folk School!
