About this Event
Interested in applying to anaesthetic training? This anaesthetic skills and education day is an opportunity for junior doctors to learn about the specialty, its associated sub-specialties, the application process and to gain practical, hands on experience in core anaesthetic skills.
Morning Session
Our morning session consists of some fantastic talks on:
- what an anaesthetist's day to day job actually involves
- anaesthetic subspecialties such as obstetrics, intensive care, pain and regional anaesthesia
- the application process, how to maximise your points, and how to sell yourself at interview!
We're lucky to be joined by Dr Kirsty McCrorie who was recently ranked as the top applicant to Anaesthetics Core Training in Scotland, and Dr Gemma Scotland, a Consultant Anaesthetist and interviewer who will discuss the application process and give their tips on maximising your application score.
Afternoon Session
Our afternoon simulation session allows you to get some hands on experience in essential anaesthetic skills, including:
- Airway management
- Spinal / Epidural Anaesthesia
- Ultrasound scanning
- Central venous access
