About this Event
We are a fresh Tāmaki Makaurau based music collective aiming to create dancefloors that serve as havens from the trials of daily life. Our namesake, the final line of The Great Gatsby, "so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past", inspires our mission: to create a space and energy that dissolves your regrets, fears, and yearning, if only temporarily. Despite it all, the music will beat on.
For our debut dance, we hope for smiles, groove, and surprises. Expect a genre fruit salad, with the main ingredients being house from the 90s to today, progressive and trance tinged underground techno, and the cornerstone of it all - disco. It may get a bit bassy and gritty at times too, but so does life.
Come early, stay late, and dress to dance.
Most importantly, help us achieve our vision of a space that is safe and inclusive for all. Respect others, respect the dancefloor, and respect yourself. It's only fun if everyone can have some.
