Bring your (chosen) family, pack a brunch, and pull up a patch of grass.

Because everyone deserves a little camp.
About this Event

So Camp! is a social gathering in the park for folks of every age in the LGBTQIA+ community.

It’s our special time to relax, play yard games, do crafts, meet new people, and share old stories. ?And have a gay ol’ time.

? So, what is So Camp!?

? An inviting community environment for all ages

? Plenty of opportunities for belly laughs with old (and new!) friends

? Themed ‘blankets’ of different activities for you to experience and more easily meet new community members without umm… awkwardly… umm… inviting yourself onto their blanket (plus there will be a raffle prize for folks who visit at least 3 of the 5 themed blankets!)

? So, what to bring?
  • A picnic blanket or chairs
  • Your own picnic supplies (food is not provided)
  • Games and activities for your blanket crew!
  • A friend! It’s a big park! Fill it with your people! Or just bring yourself!
  • An interest in meeting a new community member camper!
  • And to have fun! So much fun! So camp!
  • Oh right and also boring stuff like sunscreen, bug spray, etc

  • ***Alcohol is not permitted at city parks
  • ***Please do not bring your dogs, as some members of our community are allergic/afraid of dogs

? So, what about accessibility?
  • Handicap-accessible portajohns
  • Masks will be required at community blankets
  • Some picnic tables will be available
  • Wayfinding and a ‘welcome wagon’ when you arrive
  • Totally free to all

?Ok, but… why multi-generational?

And why So Camp!?

We don’t do enough together.

But also there’s research as to why multi-generational.

When we have multi-generational relationships it’s the best cure to ageism.

Ageism is everywhere and it takes up to 7 years off your life if you have self-directed ageism or experience ageism (which we all experience, also ask us for the research if you want it).

So!

Anything we can do to lessen these impacts and to be in community with one another—we’re going to be a lot better off as a community.

But wait there’s more!

Generativity!

This is a two-way street - there are things we can learn in each direction from folks older and younger than us. In our world today, there are simply not enough chances to share experiences.

So!

Why not?

And as for camp?

We all deserve joy and to have that joy together.

And to cloudwatch.

And be silly.

And be fully ourselves.

And laugh outside, freely.

It’s never too late to go to camp.

So!

Register for the first-ever So Camp!

Or just show up, whatever feels good to you.

We hope to have many more.
