I am thrilled to say that we are bringing the Snow on the River live concert to the Celtic Connections in Glasgow on 21st January 2026, at 19.30 in Cottiers Theatre. This is an exceptional International festival of Celtic music, and I am so happy at being able to present this project in my hometown as part of it. The music was written by myself and arranged by Martin Tourish, in an intimate creative collaboration that lasted four years. The show will feature Martin Tourish (accordion), Felip Carbonell (guitar), Siobhan Buckley (Celtic harp), a string quartet from Sligo, Ireland, and a brass quartet from Alto Adige/Sud Tirol, Italy. This is the same lineup we had for the shows in Ireland over Easter this year, and the prospect of working again with these amazingly talented and empathic musicians is immensely exciting. We played two sell out shows there to standing ovations, and the atmosphere was close to a spiritual experience. Although the music is all instrumental, I will be providing an introduction to each piece, thus giving a spoken word dimension to the experience. The video below was recorded at the Irish launch of the album, in the Lutheran Church in Dublin, Easter 2025. The full album itself can be listened to at: https://oscarmclennan.bandcamp.com/album/snow-on-the-river For further background on the history of the whole project you can read an interview with myself and Martin Tourish in the Irish Time: https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/music/2025/04/19/musician-oscar-mclennan-on-the-impact-of-the-death-of-his-young-son-i-completely-lost-the-power-of-words/
