The annual “Walk in My Shoes Holiday Sneaker Party” on December 6th is more than a celebration — it’s a powerful statement of hope, resilience, and unity within our community. As we prepare for this uplifting event, we face an urgent challenge that strikes at the heart of what we do: ensuring that every family we serve has food on their table and a safe home to live in.
Beginning November 1st, a scheduled cancellation or delay of federal SNAP benefits (food assistance) is expected to impact families across our housing communities. For many of our residents, this means making an impossible choice — buy groceries or pay rent. This immediate food crisis is threatening the housing stability that the Deerfield Beach Housing Authority (DBHA) and Family Empowerment work tirelessly to protect.
Your Generous Contribution Can Change Everything
Through our nonprofit arm, Family Empowerment (501c3), we are mobilizing an emergency response under the spirit of “Walk in My Shoes”. We’re asking you to take a stand — and take a step — by making a life-saving contribution today.
Your donation directly funds two urgent areas of need:
- Food Security – Filling the gap left by delayed SNAP benefits to ensure that children, seniors, and families have access to nutritious meals.
- Housing Stability – Providing emergency rental assistance to prevent evictions and keep families safely housed within DBHA communities.
