Smash your Money Blocks at the British Library's Business Centre

Have you ever thought that your thoughts and behaviour around money might be holding you back in business? We all have set patterns around money, which come from our own individual experiences, as well as the culture around us and even the industry we work in. For example, how did your parents speak about money or treat it? Do you think it’s rude to discuss income? Do you feel your services should be cheaper because you work in a job that helps or heals people? Or work in the arts and hear the ‘starving artist’ myth day in, day out?

These patterns can affect us negatively when it comes to running our own business, or even asking for a raise if we work for someone else!

Your attitudes to money can affect how you set your prices, how you negotiate, how you target customers and many other aspects of your business, all of which ultimately affects your income. In this session we will:1. Identify individual, social/cultural and industry money blocks through a variety of exercises.2. Understand the ways in which we might be self-sabotaging our business decisions.3. Find meaningful ways to dispel our money blocks and still hold true to our ethics.4. Set practical new ways of behaving around our money for greater business success.

This workshop is for the self-employed, freelancers, entrepreneurs and even employees: we all have attitudes to money that may be holding us back. Come along to re-examine your relationship with money, learn how to make better financial decisions and focus on making the income you really want to achieve.
