Smartphone Stories filmmaking workshop is coming to Whitehorse (Box Hill) for Lunar New Year in February 2021. Free to participate but places are limited. Register today at www.smartphonestories.com.
Smartphone Stories workshop for people who live, work or study in Whitehorse (Box Hill) and surrounds, presented with the support of City of Whitehorse.
The workshop is planned face-to-face with a Covid safe plan, however we are monitoring the Covid situation closely and changing restrictions may see the workshops change to online via Zoom or mixed mode (part online).
Times and dates (2021):
1. Intro workshop (story and camera)
Main workshop - Choose either Saturday Feb 6th or Sunday Feb 7th, 2021; from 9am - 1pm

2. Editing workshop
online and face to face (flexible times, by booking) during week of February 8th-12th, 2021

3. Filming weekend
On weekend 13 & 14 (Lunar New Year) encourage participants to film stories during celebrations in Box Hill Mall*
*This workshop will happen in the lead up and through Lunar New Year celebrations in Box Hill 2021, and while you can use the skills to tell any story you like, we welcome people to come and make place-based stories (located in and around Lunar New Year celebrations in Box Hill) which will be showcased by Council.
Workshop Location: Blue Activation Pod, Box Hill Mall (outside 3 Market St)
Participants should also plan on some work in own time to complete projects.
Workshops supported by @VicHealth Art of Good Health, @City of Port Phillip, @Cinespace Inc. and @Australia Council for the Arts in partnership with Whitehorse City Council.
