Join us for an exciting online event celebrating the launch of the new memoir, SMART GIRL!
Boldly following passions seemingly antithetical to higher education, La'Tonya "LT" Rease Miles took love of basketball, hip hop, and popular culture and reshaped educational scholarship while earning a PhD., then turned campuses into friendly first-generation student spaces. Heeding a history of persistence by the Black women in her family and never forgetting the Black men who tried to forge similar paths before her, she insists that “[o]ur stories matter,” yet reminds us, “[b]ut being ‘first’ doesn’t mean only.”
