Smaller and Smaller and Smaller: Compression and Revision in Flash FictionTuesdays: October 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29
from 7:00pm - 9:00pm in person at OSU-Tulsa.
Flash fiction, by design, utilizes all the major elements of fiction storytelling (character, dialogue, voice, plot, etc.) while trying to maximize impact in minimal space.
In this course, we will practice the skills of concision, brevity, precision, and revision in an effort to shrink a story down to its critical essence without compromising detail or audience enjoyment.
Whether you consider yourself a short story writer, an essayist, a lyricist, a novelist, a poet, a screenwriter, or a comedian, honing your ability to craft efficient and effective prose will allow you to gain a better understanding not just of literary composition, but also of sentence/paragraph structure and the timely release of information.
