About this Event
As our communities age, finding ways to support elderly relatives while maintaining their independence becomes increasingly important. Whether you’re considering options for yourself or looking to help others, there are innovative solutions that can benefit everyone involved.
Join the Peninsula Advisory Committee for Elders (PACE) and special guest speakers to hear about some options for providing extra accommodation on your property in support of a relative, friend or other elderly person to help them remain independent for longer.
If you’re navigating the challenges of aging and seeking support for yourself, or your loved ones you might be thinking about the following:
- Looking to help elderly relatives maintain independence while keeping them close?
- Considering offering rental accommodation for older community members to supplement your income?
- Are you an older individual with a large property that’s become hard to manage?
- Have you thought about moving into a custom-built unit on your own land and renting your current home to a younger family?
- Need a nearby caregiver to stay close to your own home?
If any of these resonate with you, this session will provide insights on adding a second dwelling to your property.
Specialist guest speakers will discuss the opportunities provided by changes to the Victorian Government Planning and Building regulations, making it easier for residents to build small second dwellings on the Mornington Peninsula.
Specialist builders and designers will share their ideas to help you in deciding your options.
Information will also be provided on the Housing Vic Public Housing Moveable Units scheme, designed to support eligible older people so they can continue to live independently. The units are self-contained and can be set up in the backyard of a friend or relative’s home.
Free, bookings essential.
