About this Event
In this presentation of our Summer Speaker Series, Scott will discuss his research on four species of small mountain owls found throughout the Rockies. These species are the Northern Pygmy-Owl, Northern Saw-whet Owl, Flammulated, and Boral Owls.
Did you know that there are some owls that are so small that they can comfortably perch on a number two pencil? Or that some of these small owls routinely capture K*ll and carry off birds and animals as large and even larger than the owls themselves.
During this presentation you will see images and video of the owls' nests, their feeding preferences and even how adorable their owlets are.
Scott will discuss habitat preference, courtship, nesting, egg laying, feeding young, fledging, and post-fledging activity.
We look forward to seeing you there.
