About this Event
Small Creature Tanning
Embark on an exclusive one-day journey at the "Wind Whistle" farm in Mulmur, Ontario, on August 3rd, 2024. Immerse yourself in the natural art of tanning and animal preservation in a delicate, respectful manner.
This captivating workshop offers an introductory experience with natural tanning using an egg solution, focusing on the intricate process of handling thinner, fragile skins, particularly from small creatures like rabbits, squirrels, and chipmunks.
Learn ethical techniques applicable to larger animals all while savoring a complementary lunch.
Sóley, humbled in the craft, will provide a demonstration of skinning, showcasing a method that extends to various four-legged beings. Rabbit pelts have been generously contributed by the acclaimed "Rabbit Dispatch" workshop hosted by Kelly with P.H.E.W., while cat friend Winston provides the gift of chipmunk and squirrel hides.
Join us for a day filled with insights into skin preservation and animal ethics, all set against the backdrop of the stunning permaculture garden. The workshop promises an enriching experience, commencing in the morning and concluding in the evening.
Don't miss this unparalleled opportunity to connect with nature and learn in a truly unique environment.
