About this Event
The Grief and Loss Support training is designed to equip long-term care workers with the skills and knowledge to effectively support individuals experiencing grief. Participants will learn to recognize behaviors that signal grief, describe grief and loss, and understand the deeply personal and varied ways people experience these emotions. The training emphasizes the importance of being person-centered, acknowledging cultural, spiritual, and familial influences, and providing tailored grief support based on cognitive ability.
In addition to understanding grief in others, participants will enhance their team’s ability to be psychologically informed by using resources to support grieving individuals and recognizing when their self-care needs increase. The training integrates seamlessly with other frameworks, including RIGHT RESPONSE, Positive Behavior Support, INFORMED RESPONSE, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
