Slow Is a Verb is an intimate gathering exploring African philosophies of time, ancestral textile knowledge, and the decolonial practice of repair. Through a conversation between Mumbi & Mutete, we dive into a conversation on cyclical and relational time, textile traditions across the continent, and repair as an act of cultural memory and temporal disobedience, challenging the colonial idea that value only exists in the new.Participants are invited to bring a maximum of 5 garments they would like to swap. We will also have open mic for poetry and storytelling. Slow Is a Verb frames mending and exchange as both rebellion and a return home, a way to reconnect with ancestral wisdom and the cyclical life of our textiles.
