Slow Dance Soirée returns July 11-13, 2025 in Rochester NY!This year we are welcoming back Michael Gamble and the Rhythm Serenaders, with special guests Jonathan Stout and Laura Windley, to play some sweet slow jazz live Friday and Saturday nights. Fill your days with classes by world-renowned instructors, to be announced!
There's a whole range of music that is beautiful, dynamic, playful, sassy, and seriously underrated. Slow Dance Soirée provides an opportunity to get inspired for both dancers who already love slow swing and for dancers who want to build skills in what to do at slower tempos. With some of today's finest jazz musicians on board, we hope you'll fall as much in love with the music as we are. Our original inspiration for Slow Dance Soirée was to provide a slow dance weekend tailored for Lindy Hoppers, but this event has become inclusive of many different dance styles! While we will be playing mostly slow jazz, our teachers draw the inspiration for their movement not just from Lindy Hop, but from Blues, Balboa, Tango, West Coast Swing, and more. The classes at the event will focus on core movements and techniques that can help all aspects of dancing, and we're sure the music will keep dancers from all backgrounds inspired and elated.
