Slow down and indulge in close looking at Iris van Herpen’s intricate garments as well as the marine life specimens that inspire her work.
In this unique tour of Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses, discover a world where art meets science with Dr Peter Cowman, Principal Scientist and Curator, Marine Biodiversity, Queensland Museum and Dr Louise R Mayhew, Art Historian. Leave with a deeper appreciation for art and our natural world.
Ticket includes entry to following the session, from 10.00am.

What to expect:
Slow Art Tours are a unique opportunity to see art differently using slow looking techniques. Leave with a deeper appreciation for art and our natural world. Dr Peter Cowman and Dr Louise R Mayhew will guide this small group tour in the quiet of the 'Iris van Herpen exhibtion before it opens for the day.
Here's what to expect:
• You are welcome to come with a friend or by yourself. Many people attend the Gallery solo.
• In this session, Peter and Louise encourages some discussion within the small group.
• The tour takes place inside the Gallery where the air conditioning is set to 21°C.
• The tour will include some flat-terrain walking and sitting on portable stools without backs. Chairs with backs and wheelchairs are available.
• The facilitators will use an amplified microphone. Please let us know in advance if you are hard of hearing so we can make this tour accessible for you.
• No screens or projections will be used during the event.
• The event may be photographed or filmed by QAGOMA staff. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please advise a QAGOMA staff member on arrival.
