We welcome the return of Amit Peled to perform Elgar’s sublime Cello Concerto in E minor, a work considered to be the greatest cello concerto of the twentieth century. We open with Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, nspired by Mendelssohn’s visit to the Hebrides Islands off the coast of Scotland, particularly the famous Fingal’s Cave on the island of Staffa. This work captures the natural beauty and awe-inspiring qualities of the Scottish landscape, blending romanticism with vivid orchestral imagery.
We will also feature a world premier from local composer Stefan Podell, commissioned by Ingrid and Carol Siegel.
We conclude with the Dvořák's Symphony No. 8 in G major, Op. 88 (also known as the "Symphony of the New World"), one of the composer's most beloved works, characterized by its warmth, energy, and rich melodies.
Sponsored by a group on donors in honor of Ben McAdams. Soloist sponsored by Cricket Handler and Jerry Boots.
