Start your journey in Mrs Claus’ cheerful kitchen before helping her add some sparkle to the decorations in the hall! Once everything looks just right, Santa will arrive to say thank you and invite you into his snug study for a sing-along or a fun parlour game. There’ll be time for a family photo, the chance to pick a present from the Elf’s Toy Shop and even a tractor ride to visit the Red Deer to finish off a truly magical day together.

Our Preschool Days make Christmas at Sledmere Barns extra special for little ones! You’ll stroll through the Claus’ cosy kitchen and twinkling hall, taking in the decorations without the need to stop for activities, just the right pace for tiny adventurers. Then it’s time for the big moment: meeting Father Christmas! With bells in hand, children can join him for a lively chorus of “Jingle Bells,” before enjoying a chat and a family photo. Every child will also choose a present from the Elf’s Toy Shop and visit the herd of red deer on the tractor ride, making this a magical memory to treasure.
With plenty of festive cheer and excitement, there’s fun for all the family!
Here’s what you can enjoy on your festive day at Sledmere…
- This year’s immersive experience – an actor-led walk through journey with Rusticus Theatre Company – meeting Mrs Claus before meeting the big man himself in the Grotto - be sure to tell him what’s on your wish list! (The shorter, pre-school sessions on Fridays will just meet Santa.)
- Enter the Elf Toy Shop to choose your very own present!
- Enjoy a festive Tractor and Trailer ride to see our beautiful herd of Red Deer and a chance to see if you can spot Rudolph while he waits for Santa with his friends.
- Tickets include full access to the Parkland, Walled Garden, Rare Breed Farm Park and Adventure Play Area all day!

Length of visit:
Timeslots are for when your immersive experience begins, which leads on to meet Santa, followed by the Elf Toy Shop and then immediately on to the Deer Ride. Please ensure you arrive no more than 10 minutes before your timeslot at the sign-posted entrance, near The Woodyard Shop, on the opposite side of the road to the Sledmere Main Entrance.
General Admission: We recommend that you allow approximately 1 hour 25 minutes for the Magical Santa Experience. Additionally, you can spend further time enjoying the main Sledmere site in your own time.

Carers are free and can book through the Ticket Office via phone or in person, with proof of documentation needed on the day of the event.
All children, including Under 1’s, receive a toy from the Elf Toyshop, meet Santa with the opportunity for a photograph, and go on the tractor ride as part of the experience.

Other
Please note this is a small group experience rather than an individual family visit to Santa. Photos are permitted when individual children/siblings/family groups are invited up to meet with Santa.
The immersive experience will be fully accessible for wheelchairs. Wheelchair transfers can be accommodated onto the Tractor and Trailer rides, or with prior notice, using your own transportation, we can escort you to visit the Deer.
‘Relaxed Sessions’, with reduced capacity to help make the experience a little calmer for anyone with sensory issues are available for the first 2 sessions on Saturday 6th and Saturday 13th December (9.20am and 9.55am timeslots).
Ideally pushchairs are left in a safe space at the entrance to the experience and collected when returning from the Deer Ride.
Sledmere House is open seasonally from March to October and is closed over the Winter period. This is not included in the visit.
Christmas Offerings at Sledmere on the day of your visit: For a spot of Christmas shopping why not visit The Woodyard’s Christmas Shop which is full of stunning decorations, festive homeware and lots of beautiful gifts. Pick up some delicious, tasty treats for your Christmas dinner table or a fantastic festive hamper from the Farm Shop and enjoy some homemade winter warming food from the beautiful Coach House Café or from Coffee Corner in The Woodyard!
