Liminal Shroud
Canadian heavy metal monster Liminal Shroud manages to honour the fundamentals of black metal while tapping into something new and refreshing. This trio layers an assaulting barrage of drum beats under ever-present guitar fuzz and guttural vocals to create sweeping epics of heavy atmospheric music.
Culled
If grindcore is a cousin to both death metal and punk, Culled is once or twice removed. Elements of sludge slither their way into dynamic blast beats and scalding, throaty vocals. The result? Groovy grindy tunes that find rhythm within the endless cogs of social progress.
Closetalkers
What do you get when you coat d-beat rhythms in a thick layer of ooze? Hardcore maniacs Closetalkers are the answer. Distorted basslines and guttural vocals plump with anguish paint a loud picture of what the Toxic Avenger’s band may have sounded like if he had created a jam space in his junkyard abode. This is music for the sewer dwellers in all of us.
