This event is in partnership with the The King's English, Utah Humanities, and Torrey House Press!Teresa Dovalpage was born in Havana and now lives in Hobbs, where she is a college professor at New Mexico Junior College. She has a PhD in Hispanic Literature from the University of New Mexico with a specialization in Latin American literature. She has published twelve novels and three collections of short stories. Her Havana Mystery series published by Soho Crime started with the culinary mystery Death Comes in through the Kitchen (2018), set in Havana and featuring Padrino, a santero-detective.
Kase Johnstun is an award-winning novelist, memoirist, and essayist. He is the author of the novels Cast Away and Let the Wild Grasses Grow, the medical memoir Beyond the Grip of Craniosynostosis, and co-editor/author of Utah Reflections: Stories from the Wasatch Front. He lives and writes in Ogden, Utah, and loves to run the trails of the Rocky Mountains along the face of the Wasatch Front.
Juan J. Morales is the son of an Ecuadorian mother and Puerto Rican father. He is the author of three poetry collections: Friday and the Year That Followed (2006), The Siren World (2015), and The Handyman’s Guide to End Times, winner of the 2019 International Latino Book Award. Poems have appeared in Acentos Review, Breakbeats Vol. 4 LatiNEXT, Crazyhorse, Hayden's Ferry Review, Pank, terrain.org, War, Literature, & the Arts, and elsewhere. He is a CantoMundo fellow, a Macondo fellow, the editor/publisher of Pilgrimage Press, and professor and department chair of English & World Languages at Colorado State University—Pueblo.
The 2024 Utah Humanities Book Festival marks 27 years of improving Utah communities through reading, literature, and conversations with authors and each other, and is offering over scores of partnered events in communities statewide. The Annual Utah Humanities Book Festival is Utah’s oldest and only statewide book festival and has become Utah’s signature literary event. Each year, the festival is a chance for book lovers of all types to enjoy some great, free-of-charge literary events at locations throughout Utah.
