About this Event
James Walvin, Professor Emeritus of history at the University of York is the author of over forty books, mostly on the subject of slavery.
He will be drawing on his extensive studies into slavery to demonstrate how everyday objects, such as the ordinary sugar bowl, reveal how the fruits of slavery permeated lives in Britain and continue to do so. Tableware in Fairfax House may never quite seem the same again.
