About this Event
Join Conserve Utah Valley and Provo Parks and Recreation in celebrating and caring for Slate Canyon.
Education Stations include friends from Provo Sustainability, the Utah Valley Chapter of the American Chemical Society "Get a Charge out of Chemistry," BYU Geology and the Provo River Delta Restoration. Two local artists Katelyn Garcia of Provo's Art+Nature and Alison Spencer, UVU Illustration Instructor lead us in Recycled Paper Pulp Organism Sculptures and Observational Drawing. Please register for the art workshops beginning at 9:00 Come enjoy a great view of the valley and Utah Lake and "see" things in a new way.
Service projects include carrying out trash accumulated over the winter, removing invasive myrtle spurge, and clearing puncture weeds and improving the Bonneville Shoreline Trail south towards Springville. Provo Parks has asked for our help to remove puncture weeds from the bike trail and northwest Slate Canyon Drive sidewalk areas. With the bike skills course and Bonneville Shoreline Trail access, we need a safe bike route free of puncture weeds that ruin bike tires. Help us remove the dead vines and seeds before they germinate. (Provo City Parks applied W**d killer 6 times in 2023. Help us thank them for their effort and give them a hand.) Please sign up for which service project that you would like to work on.
