About this Event

SLAM NUBA (We Cut Heads!) is celebrating Pride month, Juneteenth, and Black Music month with our monthly poetry show featuring the fantastic phaentompoet.
**There is also a location change for the evening. The open mic and feature on June 28th will be held at the Apprentice of Peace Youth Center at 2245 Curtis St.
The opening reception for the new exhibit is happening at Redline at the same time– definitely check out the exhibit and come through to Nuba afterward!
Slam Nuba hosts a poetry open-mic and slam every final Friday at Redline Art Gallery (usually) in Denver. The monthly show is hosted by Aerik Francis and DJ Alisha B . Doors and signups open 7:30PM. Show starts around 8:00PM. General admission is $10, $5 for students.

About this month's feature:
phaentompoet aka Aerik Francis (they/them) is a Queer Black & Latinx poet & teaching artist based in Denver, Colorado, USA. phaentompoet write about the politics of bodies and the bodies of politics. They are the author of the chapbooks MISEDUCATION (May 2023, New Delta Review), and BODYELECTRONIC (April 2022, Trouble Department). phaentompoet also has three audio projects out: Aerial Vectors (2023), Bodyelectronic (2023), and Syzygy EP (2022), all acessible on their website. They have received poetry fellowship support from SAFTA, the Chrysalis Institute, CantoMundo, and The Watering Hole.
