About this Event
Join us for Creative Soul House's first underground slam, curated to bring out the best of the best writers and performers across NYC and beyond! It's really about the poets, not the points! So whether you'd like to turn up with us and enjoy the show, support a competing poet or compete yourself, we ask that you show up in love and kindness for everyone in the room.
Slam House will begin with an open mic (first come, first serve) with 10 performance slots. Arrive early to secure your spot. The poetry slam will begin at 8:00pm.
A poetry slam is a competitive art in which poets perform spoken word poetry before a live audience and a panel of judges.

- 8 poets will compete for 3 rounds.
- Enter the Slam: Purchase a $50 Buy-In Ticket on Eventbrite (below)
- Prep: Prepare 3 Poems (3 minute time limit)
- Elimination Rounds: Poets advance to the next round based on highest-ranked points from 4 judges (Round 1: 8 poets. Round 2: 4 poets. Round 3: 2 poets).
- Point System: For every poem, the top and bottom scores will be dropped. The middle-two points will be added, resulting in the poet's score for that round.
