MANCHESTER, NH – On Thursday, November 7th, 2024, Slam Free Or Die - Poetry Open Mic & Slam continues its popular open mic poetry series at Stark Brewing Company. This week, there will be an open mic followed by the fifth and FINAL Slam Team Qualifier of 2024!! Doors open at 7pm along with sign ups for the open mic. The signup for the slam goes out after 7:30, and the show starts at 8pm. There is a $3-$5 sliding scale cover and this is an all-ages show. (*for more details on Slam Free or Die, scroll to the bottom of this description)IMPORTANT: slam signups will not be going out until AFTER 7:30. If you are planning on participating in any poetry performance on this night, we kindly ask that you pick ONE list to be on. Thank you!!
About the Slam:
This will be a slam with two full rounds, followed by a two-person final round where the top two poets both advance to the Qualifier Finals in December. Competing poets should come with THREE prepared pieces, with all of them being 3 minutes or under. Traditional slam rules apply; no props or musical accompaniment of any kind is allowed. Any poem going over 3:10 loses 0.5 points for every 10 seconds over the time limit. This is qualifier 5 of 5, and there will be a 10-person finals later on in the year to field a 5-person team to represent Slam Free in competition!!
About Slam Free Or Die - Poetry Open Mic & Slam:
Slam Free Or Die @ Stark Brewing Company is a series of open mic nights for poets and spoken-word artists every Thursday night in Manchester, NH. There is an open mic every night and poetry slams are also held several times a month. Doors open and sign-ups begin at 7pm with open mic beginning at 8pm. Featured poets and slams follows the open mic. Come and enjoy the delicious food and beverages at Stark Brewing Company! There is a $3-$5 sliding scale cover charge.
