About this Event
Skimmed Words is a collaborative research project investigating ways of generating and shifting meanings and images by using spoken language and scored dances.
By naming what they touch and feel, the artists ask the question: how do we understand a situation, scenario or space? The words gain an activating force; textures texting, temperatures talking, colors singing – sometimes in question, sometimes in silence. These methods become a means of examining the stage room. What traces are to be found? What histories are hidden in the walls?
Collaboration is an important method in this research project. The material is created out of a place of compromise and without a leading role. The artists are also interested in what this does to the way they relate to this material. What happens to their ownerships of it? What responsibilities are asked of the individual artists? In this compromise, it seems like the growing dances and words have as much agency as any of its makers.
