Responding to local skills needs and navigating change in Gloucestershire
About this Event

The Gloucestershire Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) has been running for nearly three years. As we come to the end of Stage Two of our work, we’d like to invite you to our Skills, Local Growth Planning and LSIP Update 2025, hosted at .

This half day event is an opportunity for you to:

  • Get the latest updates from the LSIP team
  • Hear from a panel with LSIP Partners discussing skills
  • Hear from local area employers and key industry professionals
  • Connect with peers whilst enjoying networking and refreshments

Attendees will enjoy a busy, thought-provoking agenda, covering skills from a variety of angles.

The day will start with a welcome from our venue, followed by a presentation from the LSIP team on our research findings, updates on progress, changes within the Department for Education and the launch of Skills England, finished off with a Q&A for you to ask your questions to our speakers.

Our expert panel from across the local area:

  • Liam Evans, Vice Principal Corporate & Community, SGS College (LSIF Lead)
  • Laura Gaiger, Projects and Business Development Manager, SGS College (LSIF Lead)
  • Pete Carr, Head of Employment and Skills, Gloucestershire County Council
  • Vicky Lukins, Careers Hub Lead, Gloucestershire Employment and Skills Hub
  • Griff Thomas MIET, Managing Director, GTEC Group

Will be discussing changes to the skills system in the last year, the local area’s needs and what is coming up for skills in Gloucestershire.

Lastly, we’ll be joined by Rebecca Bound, Early Careers STEM Outreach Officer at Renishaw plc and Charlotte Smith, Cyber Skills Growth Lead at CyNam who will discuss their perspective on Skills as employers. They will be talking in-depth about the Advanced Engineering and Digital Industries.

Guests will then be able to enjoy networking and refreshments with other businesses across the local area, whilst reflecting on updates from the event and have the opportunity to ask our speakers more questions in the networking area.

With skills playing such a big part in the future of industry throughout Gloucestershire, we’d love to welcome you to this event to share crucial updates, the progress we have made in the Local Skills Improvement Plan for the area, other core work on education and training in the region and our hopes for the future.

We look forward to seeing you there.
