About this Event
About the SkillBuild National Finals
The National Finals are a result of the UK and devolved nations' best apprentices and learners battling it out against each other to be one of highest scoring competitors in their trade.
After over 1000 registrations across 10 construction trades and 19 regional heats, the top scoring competitors are here at the Marshall Arena to battle it out for a final time to be crowned the winner in their trade at the SkillBuild National Final Competition.
Alongside observing the competition, visitors will have the opportunity to have a go at a range of inspiring activities that highlight the construction trades at our designated careers experience hub, the Construction Showcase, open on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st November 2024 from 10:00 to 15:00.
The Marshall Arena is located in the south of Milton Keynes, with easy access from the A5. There are plenty of amenities located around the arena (Eateries, Shopping). Located on our balcony for perfect viewing of all skills, there are also refreshment bars that will be open for visitors within the arena.
The competition will be open to visitors on Tuesday 19th November 2024 12:30 until Thursday 21st November 2024 15:30.

SkillBuild National Final Competition
The SkillBuild National Final consists of 10 trades including Bricklaying, Carpentry, Furniture and Cabinet Making, Joinery, Painting and Decorating, Plastering, Dry Lining, Roof Slating and Tiling, Stonemasonry and Wall and Floor Tiling. Visitors will be able to watch our top scoring competitors battle it out against each other to be crowned the winner in their trade and the best in the UK.
The competition is a wonder to watch as the project builds progress and construction trades come to life. Blank canvases turn into pieces of art, timber is constructed into furniture from the intricate projects that our expert panel of judges has created for our competitors.
Day 1 starts with a familiarisation and health and safety session with the competition judges before competitors are allowed to see the drawings, they then have 18 hours over 3 days to complete the project build based on the project drawings.
Visitors can watch the competition from the arena floor within designated walkways, or why not view the competition from a bird’s eye view and head to the first-floor balcony where hot and cold food and refreshments are available to purchase, and the whole of the arena floor can be viewed.
Visitors will be asked to leave the competition floor on the first day and view from the balcony area.
Once the competition has concluded, the competitors will be marked on their project builds and will be able to find out who will be taking home the winners' trophy and prizes at our awards ceremony. The competitors will be invited to attend a three-course dinner before doors open to the public to attend the awards ceremony and cheer on their competitors.
