Join us in this supportive and fun in-person class environment to explore the wonderful world of comedy writin all from the comfort of your own home! This course is delivered live online via Zoom, so you can participate from anywhere.
In 201, students will build off the comedy writing fundamentals they learned in Level One and broaden their understanding and mastery of sketch premise. Using the principles of heightened comic action while exploring relationship/character development. Their writing repertoire will expand by writing more types of sketches and beginning to learn about running order structure. Students will write individually and collaboratively - pitching ideas in a group setting, offering punch up ideas for each other’s ideas, riffing in a writer’s room setting, and co-writing material.
By the end of 201, each student will have the following deliverables:
- Parody Sketch
- Group Premise Sketch
- Character Sketch (fish out of water or center/eccentric)
- Solo Desk Piece
- Fake Article (The Onion, Clickhole)
- Satire Sketch
- Digital Sketch
- Three Blackouts
Courses are taught by veteran instructors who are long-time performers. Classes meet at The Westside or at one of our classroom spaces a block away.
Class sizes are limited. Enrollment is dependent upon availability. For enrolled students a confirmation welcome email will be sent 48 before the start of the first class. There are no refunds or transfers on tuition.
