About this Event
Grant Street Partners, along with the Scottish American Society of Dunedin are very proud to present Skerryvore in Concert at Weaver Park, Dunedin.
The Scottish American Society of Dunedin was first incorporated in 1983 and are located at the Scottish Cultural Center, Dunedin's first ever Historically Designated Building which, records show, is 100 years old this year!
This concert is presented as Fundraiser for the Scottish American Society and profits from this event will be used to maintain the upkeep of the Scottish Cultural Center as well as supporting the Scottish Arts programs in Dunedin.
Skerryvore began as a Ceilidh band on the Hebridean island of Tiree, Scotland and has evolved into a unique fusion of folk, trad, rock and pop. Brothers Daniel (accordian) and Martin (pipes) Gillespie grew up on Tiree and added friends Fraser West (drums) and Alec Dalglish (guitar) to form a new band. Then came Craig Espie (fiddle), Jodie Bremanson (Bass), Alan Scobie (keyboards) and Scott Wood (pipes & whistles) to form the greatest Scottish traditional music group in the world today! Skerryvore was recently voted the Best Live Celtic band at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards in December 2022.
Their musicianship and the mesmerizing voice of singer Alec Dalglish has made Skerryvore an international sensation and they are in constant demand all around the world.
Skerryvore are only a couple of weeks away from launching their latest studio album "Tempus" from which the first single "Everything You Need" was featured on the BBC Radio 2 Playlist.
We are delighted to welcome Skerryvore back to Dunedin and hope you will join us in Weaver Park for another amazing concert on the Gulf Coast of Florida as the sun sets!
