Back in 2009, the Caffiend laneway was the first of it's kind in Cairns – specialty coffee, gourmet brekky, and Laneway street art. Oliver James was looking to go deeper into #beanlife and learn the industry, while importing what he missed about Bondi (good food, good coffee, good vibes) to the beautiful tropical Far North.In the 15 years since, Cairns food and coffee culture has continued to evolve and blossom into a niche community, of which Caffiend is very much a part of. Reflecting on this during a recent conversation, Oliver and legendary artist Atlantis came up with an idea to throwback to Caffiend's roots, while honouring the evolution and growing community that has unfolded since.
What better way to tap into the heart of Caffiend in a deep and meaningful way than to once again bring the art community together, have a bucketload of fun, and generally celebrate all those things that Olly – and the rest of us – loves.
