AKA The Syndicate
“AKA The Syndicate are a band that was originally made up from prominent musicians from the scene, with a common goal to produce original ska driven music.
They released their self-titled debut album, full of original ska, reggae and punk influenced music and even featured Specials legend Roddy Radiation playing guitar! One song stood out, capturing the zeitgeist of the times. In response, the group pieced together a remote music video, an anthem of isolation titled 'Hands Up (Who's Coming With Me?)'. This marked AKA The Syndicate's unanticipated debut, capturing attention with a DIY video that garnered thousands of views and likes across social media. Following this triumph, the sequel, 'Two Sides Of The City' with Laura Betts taking lead vocals, was unveiled in March 2021, amassing hundreds of thousands of views on various social platforms. AKA The Syndicate had made their grand entrance and showed no signs of fading. Their debut album was described by Scootering Magazine as “A pop-tinged reggae album that brings to mind a wide variety of other bands, from Madness at their most successful to very early UB40, and maybe even a hint of No Doubt thrown in for good measure." After excellent reception from fans on the first release, their second album 'It's Our World' was released in 2023 and was voted the Best Ska Album of 2023 by the listeners of Button Down Radio They are also getting great reviews as a live band too. “They came onstage and launched straight into 'Two Sides of The City' which set the stall out for the night ahead. Infectious and catchy soul grooves were on offer. There must be a big interest in the band as the hall was already three quarters full” - Brighton and Hove News (On Bad Manners support, Concorde 2) AKA The Syndicate are definitely a band to go and see!”
