Join us and our good friend Jennifer Sellitti for another club speaker series! The American sailing vessel Adriatic collided with the French steamship Le Lyonnais on November 2, 1856, off the coast of Nantucket in what can best be described as a maritime hit-and-run. 114 people died in the collision and in the days that followed. In August of 2024, the crew of D/V Tenacious discovered, dived, and identified the wreckage of Le Lyonnais on the eastern edges of Georges Bank. This presentation highlights the story of the collision, its aftermath and what it took to find this lost French steamship.Feel free to come early and settle in with a drink. Cash bar! ABSOLUTELY NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOLIC DRINKS ALLOWED. DO NOT BYOB!!! YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE IF YOU DO BYOB. Remember, go around back and down the left staircase to the bar. We will then rotate up to the presentation room at 7-7:30pm. To encourage more attendees in person, we WILL NOT be live streaming this presentation.
