Tutor: Rebekah Cunningham (The Gathered Seam)
What you’ll learn:
● How to use a sewing machine with confidence
● Core sewing techniques: seams, hems, darts, pressing, zips
● Reading and cutting from a pattern
● How to alter and repair clothing
Step-by-step guidance to make your own garment and cushion
Students will need to bring:
● 2 metres of fabric - cotton, linen, viscose or similar. (Please pre wash your fabric at 30 to prevent shrinkage after making)
● 1 metre of 4cm wide elastic
● Matching thread for your chosen fabric
You’ll finish the course with several completed projects, new skills, and the confidence to keep sewing at home.
Please note there are sewing machines to use in Millennium Court. However, if you have a machine and are able to bring it, that is best to allow you to practise on it
This workshop is suitable for participants age 16+
