February – 4 Peak Challenge
You’ve heard of the Nuttall’s, right? John and Anne Nuttall developed the first list of those peaks over 2000ft in Wales. This walk takes us to the summit of four of them and they are wild! from the summits you will have simply the best views of the Central Brecon Beacons available to man and dog. 16.5km of hiking with 727m of ascent. Meet here – Layby North of Storey Arms OEC
April – The Black Mountain
It’s a big day and we’ll try to get all of the peaks in but that will most definately depend on the weather. Four Nuttall’s in the remote West and where it’s rare to see more than an odd couple of walkers out and about. Spectacular views, fine ridges and truly wild country completes the day. 19km of hiking with 966m of ascent. Meet here Side road adjacent to Tafarn y Garreg pub
June – Cadair Idris Circuit
Regarded by some, including us, as the best mountain day in the whole of Wales, this is a grand circuit of the ridges that beckon you towards and allow the descent from the glorious Cadair Idris. We’ll be taking the Minffordd Path before striking eastwards to gain the ridge and then the summit before heading back past the heart shaped lake to rejoin the Minffordd. 10km of hiking and 880m of ascent. Meet here – Dol Idris Car Park
August – The Black Mountains
Over the course of the year we cover the main mountain ranges of the Brecon Beacons National Park and this day it’s the turn of the East and the Black Mountains. We’ve decided on the ridges of the far east, taking in five Nuttall’s and enjoying stunning views both towards Herefordshire and to the Brecon Beacons. 23km of hiking and 865m of ascent. Meet here – Gospel Pass Car Park
October – The Holy Loaf
It’s two small but iconic hills, easy you say? Well, we are walking all of the distance between to make a wonderful circular loop! We take in both The Sugar Loaf and The Skirrid, hence, ‘Holy Loaf’ or ‘The Skirrid Loaf’. We have even scheduled in a pub stop just after lunch, for a cuppa or something stronger… 20km of hikng and 1000m of ascent. Meet here – National Trust Car Park
December – Pen y Fan Challenge
This is a truly iconic Beacons day out and one that we are masters of! We will be guiding you on a classic but lesser walked route to Pen y Fan’s summit that features hidden waterfalls and the most remote of valleys. We include mini adventures throughout! Three Nuttall’s are bagged on this route as well as an hilarious slide down a mountain. 15km of hiking and 765m of ascent. Meet here – Pont ar Daf Car Park
